To borrow from the LaGrange County Public Library, you must have one of the following:
LaGrange County Residents:
Anyone who lives in, owns property in, or attends school in LaGrange County is entitled to a free Evergreen Indiana borrower's card. An Evergreen Indiana borrower's card allows the cardholder to use any library in the Evergreen Indiana network.
To obtain a card, visit any branch of the LaGrange County Public Library.
Adults (age 18+) will need to fill out an application and provide proof of identity and current residence.
Minors (age <18) need to have their parent or legal guardian present when they apply. The parent/guardian will need to provide their own identification and sign on behalf of the minor. The parent/guardian will ultimately be responsible for items borrowed on the minor's card.
Replacement cards cost $2.00 and require a new application.
LaGrange County Non-Residents:
Non-residents who have an Evergreen Indiana borrower's card issued by another county are welcome to use their cards in LaGrange County.
Non-residents who don't have an Evergreen Indiana borrower's card must obtain one of the following:
A non-resident may obtain an Evergreen Indiana borrower's card by filling out an application, providing proof of identity and current residence, and paying the non-resident card fee.
The current non-resident card fee is $40 per year.
A non-resident card allows the cardholder to use any library in the Evergreen Indiana network.
Public Library Access (PLAC) Cards:
The PLAC Card is statewide library card, which allows an individual to borrow materials directly from any public library in Indiana.
In order to purchase a PLAC card, you must already hold a valid Indiana public library card. If you don't live in an area served by a public library system, you might have to purchase a non-resident card before you can purchase a PLAC card.
The current cost of a PLAC card is $65 per year.
A PLAC card allows the cardholder to use any library in Indiana
The LaGrange County Public Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with:
The reciprocal agreement means that the LaGrange County Public Library will issue free borrower's cards to people who hold current Middlebury or Joyce Library cards, and those libraries will issue free cards to LaGrange County cardholders.
A reciprocal card allows the cardholder to use the LaGrange County Public Library system, but it is not valid at other Evergreen Indiana libraries.
