Young Adult Librarian/Assistant Director
The LaGrange County Public Library is seeking a full-time Young Adult Librarian/Assistant Director. The successful candidate for this hybrid position will be extremely tech savvy as in-house IT liaison to outsourced IT service; highly motivated; flexible; creative and energetic; possess strong interpersonal and written skills; collaborative experience and proven leadership abilities. Position requires some nights and weekend hours.
Duties: Young Adult duties include: managing YA department, programming and collaborative outreach as well as collection development and maintenance. Assistant Director: Under the administrative direction of the Director, duties include some administrative and managerial support with an emphasis on overseeing library personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited College or University. Candidates currently in the process of obtaining a degree in Library Science are also encouraged to apply. Minimum Requirements: three year's professional library work experience and LC 4 Indiana Certification Level.
Skills: Circulation duties, including check-in and check-out; issue library cards and collect fines; shelve materials; assist customers in locating materials and with public computers and printing. Knowledge of personal computers and word processing and database software applications. Ability to supervise limited staff and work effectively with all library staff and patrons. Working knowledge of library procedures and practices, word processing and graphic skills, and a wide breadth of general literature knowledge. Working knowledge of computer applications for library services a plus.
Communication: Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Bilingual skills a plus.
Physical Requirements: Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, able to stand for several hours at a time.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical library environment.
